Delve deeply into the Ashtanga Yoga method with expert teacher Kino MacGregor. Classes are designed to be both useful independently and as a set upon which to build. Each morning practice will have ample time to include breakdowns and discussion of specific asanas as well as give crucial information about the Ashtanga Yoga method. Each day will be slightly different with focus shifting based on the students’ needs and the workshop topics. Drop in for one session or dive into the full immersion and transform your practice. All classes are rooted in both traditional yoga philosophy and the real-world application of the ancient teachings. Kino's experience as a devoted practitioner for over 20 years and multiple trips to India combined with her relatable approach to yoga make her workshops unparalleled in the global yoga community.

Saturday 5th May

Vairagya: mindful movement, 10:00  - 12:30

Learn a new paradigm for your practice where less effort equals deeper results. Drop into the inner body and discover healing, quiet and wisdom. Start off with a meditation and end with a deep flow practice based on the Ashtanga Yoga method. This class is the antidote to the goal-oriented mindset. Understand what it means to practice with non-attachment and be in a fully surrendered state. Leave with an awareness of the most subtle teachings of yoga.

Fearless backbends, 14:30  - 17:00

If you enjoy a challenge but think you are too stiff to ever bend backwards then this is the perfect workshop for you. By understanding how to work your body safely, you will learn what it takes to really bend over backwards with no fear. The secrets of deep backbends are available to you through the integration of sound anatomical principles, healthy alignment techniques and intensely fun stretches. The dynamic movement mechanics of bending your spine are the key to limitless flows of energy and in this class you will begin to explore you natural potential for deep backbends with safety, support and enthusiasm.

Sunday 6th May

Ashtanga magic: breath, posture + gaze, 10:00  - 12:30

Delve into the secrets of the Ashtanga Yoga lineage, known as the Tristana method, and discover the magic of breath (pranayama), posture (asana) and focal point (dristhi). Break down the energetic alignment of key postures in the Ashtanga Yoga method and build the foundation for a meditative, awareness based practice. Starting off with the Sun Salutations and progressing through the Standing Postures. Kino guides you into a devotional practice that merges the physical and subtle bodies and honors tradition while embodying the present.

Twist into your centre, 14:30  - 17:00

Deep twisting increases energy levels, cleanses the body and opens the mind to new levels of awareness. Find the perfect balance between activation and release in this new approach to twisting. Learn healthy techniques to increase flexibility in your spine and shoulders while creating a solid foundation in your pelvis. Use the core strength of your body to support first the extension and then the twisting. You will have fun with many levels of twists and even use the twisting position to enter some challenging arm balances!

Monday 7th May

Ashtanga yoga full primary series, 10:00  - 12:30

Surrender to the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method with careful emphasis on the traditional vinyasa method and have fun along the journey. Experience the integrity and purity of the Ashtanga Yoga practice.

Handstand lovers, 14:30  - 17:00

Handstands are considered by some to be the benchmark of strength and steadiness that transcends physical disciplines. From yoga to martial arts to gymnastics a stable handstand is the key test of alignment and mastery. The only thing you need to join this class is a love of handstands. Whether you are a total beginner or have a stable handstand you will learn tools to build strength and alignment while balancing on your hands. Leave with a strength building program that you can do every day to develop the physical and emotional strength to support your handstanding journey.
